With the team in first place and playing some good defensive baseball with strong pitching, there are tons of other reasons to go.
With so much going on, let’s see where the Milkmen end up.
- Thursday June 22nd $1 Beer Night
- Friday June 23rd is Fireworks Night with Country Music Following the Game
- Saturday June 24th is Western Night
- Sunday (1pm Game Time) is “Rock the Pink” supporting the fight against Breast Cancer
Milkmen Update
Milwaukee is 21-12, in first place, and the team has won eight of its last ten games. Milwaukee has a 3.5 game lead in their half of the American Association of Professional baseball. They are a half game back for the best record in the 12 team league behind the Kansas City Monarchs.
This team really has an identity as a fast, base-stealing team, that can pitch and defend.
Also, no one is truly “out of it” yet. The Lake County Dockhounds (the Milkmen’s rival to the West) are last at 14-19.
Individual League Leaders
Pitcher Christian Young is third in the league in ERA. (2.12) He is also one of the top pitchers with 40 total strikeouts.
Bryan Torres is 2nd in the American Association of professional baseball with a .376 batting average (fractions of a point off the league leader). In Sunday’s game he went 3 for 5 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Team Totals
As a team the Milkmen have 283 hits in 1,094 at bats. (.259 team batting average)
The Milkmen are first (by a mile) in team stolen bases. They have 82 total stolen bases. The next closest team is Sioux Falls with 61.
They also have the best team E.R.A. in the league (4.04) They lead the league with 4 shutouts.
Also, the Milkmen’s offense is starting to rake
In Sunday’s 7-3 win against Cleburne Texas the Milkmen had some true standout performances. Along with Bryan Torres going 3 for 5, Miguel Gomez and catcher Roy Morales homered in the win.
The pitching staff held its own in that game as well. They spread out 11 hits and three runs in nine innings for the win.
Bryan Torres continues to play great baseball. On June 13th Bryan Torres really had a great game. In the leadoff hole, Torres was 2-5 with a stolen base. On June 9th against Sioux City he was 3-3 with two stolen bases. The pattern seems to be that Torres gets on, steals a base and scores. Nothing wrong with that!
Drew Ward continues to provide a strong, veteran presence. Against Texas he was 0-2 with two important walks. He continues to get on base and helps keep the offense going.
Next Up
