Next season, the Milwaukee Bucks will surely need a lot of shooters who can space the floor for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. In this regard, the front office can do well by targeting forward Corey Kispert from the Washington Wizards.
Kispert’s basketball journey at Gonzaga University was marked by steady progress and standout performances. As a true freshman, he appeared in all 35 games, averaging 6.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest. His role expanded as a sophomore, with him becoming a starter and averaging 8.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
His junior season was a breakout campaign. He scored a career-high 28 points against Southern Mississippi and 26 points against North Carolina, earning a spot on the All-West Coast Conference First Team. Despite declaring for the 2020 NBA Draft, the forward ultimately decided to return for his senior season.
In his final year at Gonzaga, Kispert continued to shine. He scored a career-high 32 points, tying the school record with nine three-pointers, in a win against Virginia. His stellar performance helped Gonzaga reach the national championship game, where they fell to Baylor. He was named the WCC Player of the Year and won the Julius Erving Award as the top small forward in the nation.
Kispert’s excellence at Gonzaga earned him a spot as the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Washington Wizards. He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, showcasing his scoring prowess and versatility.

Just recently, Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch appeared in a podcast for Bleacher Report to discuss several trade ideas for the Bucks. Among them is pursuing Kispert to pair him with Antetokounmpo and All-Star guard Damian Lillard for next season.
“I think Kispert holds up defensively. I think Dame, Kispert, Khris, Giannis as the four starters, and Brook if they make a move there, would be really fun. I think that would be a really exciting trade,” Windisch said.
Over the course of 80 games last season, Kispert averaged 13.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He also shot 38 percent from outside the arc and 64 percent inside it, making him an efficient shooter to pair with the Greek Freak.
It remains to be seen whether the Bucks’ front office will pursue Kispert or not. In any case, the upside he brings to the table is looking good for Milwaukee.
