At this point, there’s no guarantee that Malik Beasley will be in a Milwaukee Bucks uniform next season. The sharpshooting veteran has played well enough this past season to warrant a bigger contract — one that he will be chasing once he enters NBA free agency this summer.
The Bucks might not be able to afford Beasley, which means that they will need to consider looking elsewhere in terms of filling the void the 27-year-old should he take his talents to greener pastures.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Eric Gordon a Deemed a Viable Free Agent Target
The good news for the Bucks is that they will have a myriad of options available on the market. The bad news, though, is given their lack of financial power, this team will likely have to settle for a player who is willing to play for the veteran’s minimum salary.
A player that fits that mold is former Sixth Man of the Year winner Eric Gordon, who could be on his way out of the Phoenix Suns once his contract expires this summer. According to Keith Smith of spotrac, Gordon is one of four viable free-agent targets for the Bucks this summer:
“Milwaukee could use more wing depth, especially if Beasley leaves. If he was willing to play for the minimum, Evan Fournier could be a good get. Alec Burks would also fit. Assuming he opts out and wouldn’t mind returning to the Midwest, Eric Gordon would be a nice addition. If the Bucks wanted to go a little younger, they could go after someone like Lonnie Walker IV or Talen-Horton Tucker. All of those guys could be available for the minimum, after money dries up elsewhere,” Smith wrote.
Lonnie Walker IV is another intriguing option for Milwaukee. He isn’t exactly at the same level of Beasley, but the 6-foot-4 shooting guard has shown time and again that he is capable of getting hot on any given night when given the chance. That shot could come with the Bucks in 2024-25.
