The Milwaukee Bucks survived the Miami Heat on Tuesday without Giannis Antetokounmpo but some fans found it concerning because of the pre-game details about the two-time MVP’s sudden absence.
Coach Doc Rivers said that even him was surprised by the sudden omission of his superstar in the line-up due to medical reason although insisted that what was done was standard.
Giannis doesn’t miss many games. Whatever it is, I’m sure it was the right thing to do.
How is Antetokounmpo’s status now?
Rivers said the left-knee contusion is not a long-term concern and that he could be back against the Washington Wizards.
In fact, he found it a blessing in disguise as the Greek Freak had almost a week of rest.
Giannis had six days off. That’s a huge stretch for him in the middle of a season or the beginning of a season, so that should help his body.
Antetokounmpo, currently the top scorer in the league with 32 points, has missed two games so far this season.
He has been playing like an MVP this season and missing him more games would be disastrous for the Bucks.
Giannis scored at least 30 points in his last three, including a triple double against the Indiana Pacers.
Giannis Antetokounmpo among probable Bucks tomorrow
The Bucks have sent out their injury report today with Antetokounmpo among the probables, joining MarJon Beauchamp who has a left hamstring tendinopathy.
Bucks that are officially out are Khris Middleton who this week has already been medically cleared after a bilateral ankle surgery, two-way player Liam Robbins, and rookies AJ Johnson, Chris Livingston, Tyler Smith who are all on G-League assignment.
Although Middleton is out, the team have found their stride back in their last eight games after starting 2-8.
Stepping up for the team are AJ Gree and Andre Jackson Jr. who became spark plugs on the defense which the team was badly missing at the start of the season.
