Last year, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers won the first-ever NBA Cup. With the schedule revealed, the Milwaukee Bucks will attempt to win this year’s edition of the tournament.
The Emirates NBA Cup, the league’s second annual in-season competition, is set to tip off on November 12, 2024. The tournament will consist of two stages: Group Play and Knockout Rounds.
During the Group Play stage, all 30 teams will be randomly drawn into groups of five within their respective conferences based on their win-loss records from the 2023-24 regular season. Each team will play four designated “Cup Nights” games, one against each opponent in its group, with two games at home and two on the road.
The top team from each of the six groups and two “wild card” teams (the team from each conference with the best record in Group Play that finished second in its group) will advance to the Knockout Rounds. These eight teams will compete in single-elimination games, with the Quarterfinals taking place in team markets and the Semifinals and Championship held in Las Vegas.
All 67 games across both stages of the Emirates NBA Cup will count towards the regular-season standings, except for the Championship game. The tournament will feature a prize pool, and the winning team will be crowned the champion.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Schedule For the NBA Cup Revealed
Even as early as now, the NBA Cup’s schedule for the Bucks has been revealed. In an article written by Dalton Sell for Behind the Buck Pass, Milwaukee will face the following teams for the Group Play Stage.
“The full details and schedule for the 2024-25 NBA Cup have been revealed, and the Milwaukee Bucks find themselves in an interesting group. Their group, known as East B, includes the Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons,” Sell wrote.
The Bucks’ four-game schedule features several intriguing storylines, such as the rematch against the Pacers, who eliminated them in the playoffs last season. The Bucks-Pacers rivalry has intensified, with tensions flaring whenever the two teams face off.
Milwaukee will also have the opportunity to take on their former star Damian Lillard, who now plays for the Heat. The NBA Cup provides a unique in-season tournament with a prize pool, and the Bucks will look to avenge their previous defeats and assert their dominance in the group stage.
