Khris Middleton has been out of commission for the Milwaukee Bucks’ last 10 games. The three-time All-Star has been unable to shake off a lingering ankle injury that dates back to early February.
Unfortunately, despite the optimism regarding his road to recovery, it does not sound like Middleton will be back on the floor in the immediate future.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Doc Rivers’ Update on Khris Middleton
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers himself stated last week that there was a possibility that Middleton would be available for Milwaukee’s recently-concluded two-game road stand. That did not happen.
On Sunday, Rivers spoke to the media about Middleton’s status and it seems that the 32-year-old may have taken a bit of a step back in his recovery:
“He went a little, not a lot,” Rivers said of Middleton’s participation in Sunday’s practice, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
This update does not exactly fall in line with Rivers saying on Friday that Middleton “went through an intense workout” prior to their game against the Chicago Bulls. For some reason, it appears that the 6-foot-7 small forward’s activity in practice has decreased significantly.
When asked if he thought Middleton would be available for Monday’s contest against the Los Angeles Clippers, Coach Doc wasn’t very optimistic:
“Probably not, but we’ll see. It’s pretty doubtful,” Rivers said.
Khris Middleton Ruled Out Vs. Clippers
True enough, the Bucks have already submitted their injury report for Monday’s matchup against LA, and Middleton has now officially been ruled out. This will be his 11th straight contest on the sidelines as he continues to nurse a left ankle sprain.
Milwaukee will be headed on a four-game Western Conference road trip after Monday’s home game, and at this point, it remains to be seen if Middleton will be joining his team for that upcoming stretch.
