It comes as no surprise that Giannis Antetokounmpo holds the title of the highest-paid player on the Milwaukee Bucks roster. The former back-to-back MVP is set to pocket $45.6 million this coming season, and the fact of the matter is that he could be in line for a significant pay bump in the near future once he negotiates an extension with the Bucks.
Incidentally, despite the fact that Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez penned multi-year extensions this summer for a combined $150 million, it’s actually Jrue Holiday who ranks second among Milwaukee’s highest earners. As a matter of fact, Holiday’s $34.9 million salary in 2023-24 ranks in the Top 10 in the entire NBA among point guards.
Jrue Holiday Is Eighth Highest Paid PG in NBA in 2023-24
Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World conjured up a list of the most handsomely paid PGs in the NBA entering the new season. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, the greatest shooter of all time, sits atop the list with his $51.9 million payday in 2023-24. Damian Lillard ($45.6 million), Fred VanVleet ($40.8 million), Luka Doncic ($40.0 million), and Trae Young ($40.0 million) then round out the Top 5, respectively.
Not far behind, though, is Jrue Holiday. His $34.9 million might pale in comparison to Curry’s annual income, but there’s no denying that it’s still a whole lot of money. This only goes to show how Holiday remains to be one of the top point guards in the league.
Jrue Holiday Due for Big-Money Extension With Milwaukee Bucks?
It is worth noting that Holiday now just has two years remaining on his current deal. He also has a player option on his contract for 2024-25 which means that if he wanted to, he could actually walk away from the Bucks next summer as an unrestricted free agent.
Milwaukee doesn’t seem like they have any intention of letting Jrue leave, which will require them to extend his deal in the near future. Holiday still remains to be one of the top two-way guards in the NBA today, and his new contract should reflect the same. Could he negotiate an even bigger payday than the $39.4 million he’s set to pocket in 2024-25? We shall soon find out.
