Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo signed a contract extension last summer with the franchise for three years worth $175.9 million and is locked under contract through the 2026-2027 season. Antetokounmpo did not play in the first-round series against the Indiana Pacers because of a left calf strain. He also did not play the final three games of the NBA regular season because of it.
This is the second straight year that the Bucks lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Milwaukee is looking to make changes to its roster in the NBA offseason and they hope to be building around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard for the long haul. Last offseason, there were trade rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo before signing his contract extension, but here we are again.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said on Get Up this morning:
“The whole league is obviously watching what happens with Giannis. Certainly, the Knicks are one of them.”
The New York Knicks were just eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 and they will be looking to make moves this offseason. Julius Randle could very well be on the trade block for the Knicks. They are looking to get a second-star to get around Jalen Brunson.
Milwaukee Bucks are Not Trading Giannis Antetokounmpo and the National Media Wants to Create Its Narrative Once Again
It is no accident that the national media wants to talk about the Knicks and Antetokounmpo the day after New York gets eliminated from the postseason. They were talking about this last offseason. The national media wants the New York Knicks to have its superstar alongside Jalen Brunson.
They would crave storylines if Antetokounmpo were traded to the Big Apple. Sorry, there is no way that it will happen. Giannis Antetokounmpo was injured during the playoffs and didn’t even play. Damian Lillard was also injured as he missed a couple of games against the Indiana Pacers as well.
Antetokounmpo last season with the Bucks in 73 games played averaged 30.4 PPG, 11.5 RPG, 6.5 APG, 1.1 BPG, and 1.2 SPG. He ranked second in the NBA in points per game, sixth in the NBA in rebounds per game, and 14th in the NBA in assists per game.
The point is that the Milwaukee Bucks are not trading Antetokounmpo away during the summer. They will possibly trade Khris Middleton, Pat Connaughton, Bobby Portis Jr., or Brook Lopez in the offseason.
