Giannis Antetokounmpo was the hero of the day for the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night. Not only did he go off on the offensive end with a season-high 31-point explosion, but the former Defensive Player of the Year came up with a couple of game-sealing blocks down the stretch to lead Milwaukee to a hard-fought 129-125 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
The Bucks needed a win on Monday, and Giannis absolutely answered the call.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Speaks Out on Key Defensive Stops
Antetokounmpo was a menace on the defensive end throughout this game. However, the seven-time All-Star flexed his defensive prowess in the dying moments of the game as he played the role of the squad’s rim protector.
When asked to comment on his heroics in his post-game interview, however, Antetokounmpo was quick to play them down:
“S**t, I’ll be very honest with you. I wasn’t thinking that I was the big out there,” he said. “I was just trying to play basketball. I was fortunate to be in the right spot down the stretch and being able to get those blocks.”
That’s Giannis for you. As he said, he was just playing basketball out there. The former back-to-back MVP just trusted his instincts and they paid off tremendously not only for him but for Milwaukee as well.
Thanks to Antetokounmpo’s heroics, the Bucks are now 4-2 following their first road win of the new season.
