There has not been a NHL game in Milwaukee since 1993. That will change this year as the Milwaukee Bucks and Fiserv Forum have reached an agreement to host the NHL’ “Home Away from Home” game on October 2, 2022. The event will be a preseason matchup between the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks, the two NHL teams closest to Milwaukee.

Tickets for the event will go on sale on August 5 on ticketmaster.com. According to TMJ4, tickets start at $15.

Of course, hockey is present in the city of Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Admirals are a minor league affiliate of the Nashville Predators. NHL games were also played in Milwaukee annually from 1988-1993 at the Bradley Center.

When announcing the game at Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee Bucks and Fiserv Forum President Peter Feigen said, “We are excited to host the first NHL game at Fiserv Forum and welcome the return of NHL hockey to Milwaukee for the first time since 1993. We look forward to hosting the Blackhawks and Wild as we continue to bring a variety of dynamic events to Fiserv Forum.”

Jamie Faulkner, the President of Business Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks, also had a statement: “We are excited to bring the Blackhawks experience to our fans out of Chicago, and we can’t think of a better place to start than our incredible neighbors to the north. We’re hard at work designing a gameday fans won’t want to miss as the first NHL team to bring a game to Fiserv Forum in partnership with the Milwaukee Bucks and BMO.”

Details of the NHL Game at Fiserv Forum

According to Fiserv Forum, there will be pregame festivities that start at 3:00pm in the Deer District. These events will include a photo and autograph opportunity with Blackhawks legends. There will also be live music and a plethora of other activities.

Fiserv Forum Hosting Other Events Has a Great Economic Impact on Milwaukee

Last year, Fiserv Forum hosted several games as part of the NCAA March Madness Tournament. According to numbers provided by TMJ4, this led local business to make approximately $6.5 million in the short time the tournament was in Milwaukee.
