Black History month is here and for Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, it is unfortunate that diversity is being blamed by the country’s highest official after an air tragedy.
The plane, according to reports, had 60 passengers and four crew members. Nobody survived the plane crash.
The victims include several elite figure skaters from both the U.S. and Russia who were just back from a competition in Wichita.
For Rivers, the president should have some sense of responsibility instead of pointing finger, something he learned in more than 29 years of coaching.
“The president the other day, to me was that was awful to hear,” Rivers said before their game against the San Antonio Spurs which they lost.
“And the blame game. This guy fires half the staff and then he blames other people. It’s funny, when you’re the president, you have to take the blame. Just like when I’m the coach, I have to take the blame. It’s no different. In some ways, if your team loses, if you’re the head, you just got to sit there and take it like a man.”
What did Trump really say? The newly elected leader of the United States of America suggested that DEI programs lowered their standards when it comes to aviation.
It just could have been [because of diversity hiring]. We have a high standard. We’ve had a much higher standard than anybody else. And there are things where you have to go by brainpower. You have to go by psychological quality, and psychological quality is a very important element of it.
Rivers remains vocal about his politics despite his comments not being too popular to many Wisconsin sports fans.
Doc Rivers on importance of Black History Month
The Black History Month is celebrated the whole of February in the NBA.
Rivers’ Trump comments came after he was asked about the month that the nation celebrates black power.
To him, it is unfortunate the world still needs Black History Month.
“It’s a shame we need it,” Rivers told reporters.
“I’ve always said that because I was taught correctly in high school and in grade school, it was American history that was never taught. And, so, we had to have a month to teach American Black history.”
