After enduring two consecutive losses, the Milwaukee Bucks have finally won one against the Dallas Mavericks. This win also marks Doc Rivers’ first victory as the team’s head coach after Adrian Griffin was let go.
In that contest, Giannis Antetokounmpo came up big with 48 points, six rebounds, 10 assists, and five steals to lead the Bucks to the win. Damian Lillard added 30 points and eight assists, while Bobby Portis came off the bench to get a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
On the other side of the fence, Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 40 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. But even with his impressive performance, Dallas was unable to keep their 25-point lead against the Bucks as the Antetokounmpo-led squad came from behind to get the victory.
This win comes after Milwaukee’s back-to-back losses against the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers. And even though these games spoiled Rivers’ coaching debut and Lillard’s return to his old team, the victory against Dallas is shaping up to be a great moment for the Bucks.
Doc Rivers Shares Secret Behind Milwaukee Bucks’ Comeback Against the Dallas Mavericks
After the game, Rivers faced the media and talked about how the Bucks overcame Dallas 25-point lead in the game. In a post by Eric Nehm on X:
Doc Rivers, on his team’s comeback: “No one panicked. I thought that was big for our team. I didn’t panic. Nobody panicked. Just kind of hung in there,” Nehm posted.
This mindset used by the players certainly kept them focused, especially when facing a talented offensive player like Luka Doncic. Also, the lack of panic among the guys is a welcome change after several disappointing moments during their previous losses against Denver and Portland.
