It has now been over four months since Damian Lillard joined the Milwaukee Bucks. This also means that it has been nearly half a year since the Miami Heat missed out on a generational talent despite the fact that Dame himself requested to be traded to South Beach.
While the narrative surrounding his botched trade to Miami has significantly died down over the past several months, even Dame himself knows that this will forever be part of his story.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Gets Real on Failed Trade to Heat (Again)
In a recent interview, the Bucks All-Star point guard was asked to share his thoughts on the narrative surrounding his failed move to the Heat. With the Bucks still unable to reach their peak form at this point in the season, there has been some doubt surrounding their championship credentials. This has led to some folks questioning whether or not Lillard would have been a better fit in Miami.
For his part, the 33-year-old is having none of it:
“I don’t have to fight against it. Because I’ve been around long enough to know that’s the conversation. It’s never gonna stop,” Lillard said, via Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports. “People will always do that. I take solace in knowing, I’ve seen teams rolling, 50-60 games and the first time they hit adversity or have a collapse, they’ll just roll [over].”
Lillard knows that the Bucks will have to continue going through these growing pains. They’re frustrating, no doubt, but at the same time, it’s able to test the team’s character and their ability to bounce back from adversity.
All this will prove beneficial when they take their game to the next level during the postseason.
