PJ Tucker was recently linked to a potential reunion with the Milwaukee Bucks. The veteran forward is currently with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he has now lost his spot in the rotation, leaving the 38-year-old in no man’s land.
In a recent interview, Tucker revealed his desire to leave LA to find a team that will give him the minutes he feels he deserves. Could that team be the Bucks?
On the Outside Looking In
Tucker, who was traded to the Clippers as part of the James Harden blockbuster deal, last played on November 27 against the Denver Nuggets. He has since been in the dog house since Coach Tyronn Lue tightened up his rotation.
Tucker is a pro so he knows how these go. Nevertheless, it is clear that the 6-foot-5 forward is disappointed with his current situation.
“I don’t have a role on this team right now,” Tucker told Clippers beat reporter Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints in an exclusive interview. “I’m not playing. I’m out of the lineup. It was a decision that was made, and I’m living with it right now. But obviously, I feel like I still got a lot to contribute to a team to be able to win, whether that’s here or somewhere else. And here, it’s just not there right now. So I want to do what I can do.”
Tucker also said that he’s already spoken with Coach Lue and he understands the decision that was made:
“Yeah, we’ve had little talks, and, you know, we understand the situation,” he said. “It is what it is. There aren’t minutes to be had for me right now and it kind of just is what it is.”
PJ Tucker Back to the Milwaukee Bucks?
Tucker then went on to state that he’s now looking for a way out. He knows that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank, and he has no desire to waste away his last remaining years in the dog house:
“I know myself, my worth. I know what I bring. I know what I’ve brought. I know what I can continue to bring,” Tucker said. “And with that, I want to be able to go to a good team that I can be able to help that. I think it’s kind of prioritized together at the same time and playing a role. And when you know you can play that role and have played that role on championship level teams, not just winning championships, but teams that have a chance to win a championship over the last seven years, eight years. So, yeah.”
Tucker played a key role in Milwaukee’s title run in 2021, and while he might have lost a bit of spring in his step over the past couple of years, there could be a scenario wherein the Bucks find value in the veteran.
Tucker could emerge as a name to watch toward the trade deadline, and Milwaukee might just want to do their due diligence.
