Milwaukee Bucks fans will be the first to tell you how their team won’t have an easy road to the NBA Finals. While they have one of the stronger duos in the NBA, the quality of their roster may struggle against some of the better teams in the Eastern Conference.
The rest of the roster also understands the pressure placed upon them to perform, and they’re more than ready to step up to the plate. However, there are still a couple of question marks on their roster that they need to address.
One of the biggest question marks they need to address is Brook Lopez’s future. The 36-year-old big man is still a solid contributor to the Bucks’ season, but the hesitation to extend his stay made some fans question whether the team was looking elsewhere.
The team has officially put any questions to rest with the latest move they made involving the big man.
Milwaukee Bucks extend Brook Lopez’s stay for two more years
The Forkball’s Abdullah Imran reported that the big man is extending his stint with the team after agreeing to fresh terms:
Brook Lopez signed a two-year, $48 million contract with the Bucks, which includes a guaranteed salary of $23 million for the upcoming season. At 36 years old, Lopez is in the final year of this deal, leading to questions about his long-term future with the team.
Despite his age, Lopez remains a key component of the Bucks’ success, known for his defensive skills and ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting.
The extension shows how valuable Lopez has become as a solid stretch big who can still impose his presence down low. He was a key figure in the Bucks’ success last season, averaging 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 2.4 blocks a game. He shot an efficient 48.5% on the floor last season, while his accuracy from deep was at an equally impressive 36.6%.
He will become an anchor for the Milwaukee Bucks’ regular-season and postseason pursuits, and fans will hope that he’s healthy enough to withstand the challenges of the coming season.
