The previous season didn’t go as well as the Milwaukee Bucks planned, especially with the addition of All-Star guard Damian Lillard. This prompted veteran big man Bobby Portis to send out a warning to the NBA to prepare for them.
The 2023-24 season for the Milwaukee Bucks began with high hopes following the acquisition of Lillard in a major trade. Expectations soared, but the reality was quite different. Despite finishing third in the Eastern Conference, the team struggled to meet its potential. While Lillard’s arrival boosted the offense, placing them among the top in scoring, their defense faltered significantly, ranking in the lower tier of the league.
A key moment of the season was the dismissal of head coach Adrian Griffin, despite the Bucks holding a solid record mid-season. This decision was surprising and led to the hiring of Doc Rivers, whose tenure did not yield the expected improvements. The team’s dynamics appeared strained, with players often questioning their roles and the coaching approach.
The season also marked the return of Khris Middleton, who faced injuries but showed flashes of his former self. However, both Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo had underwhelming outings compared to their draft positions, leading to disappointment among fantasy managers.
Overall, the Bucks’ season was marred by inconsistency and a lack of defensive cohesion. With the playoffs in sight, the team’s future hinges on how they address these issues and whether they can find a way to maximize their star power effectively. Fans are left hoping for better synergy and a more robust performance in the upcoming season.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis Warns Rest of the NBA With Underdog Mentality
In a post he shared on his official X account, Portis sent out a message to the entire NBA about Milwaukee’s upcoming campaign and how they’re being underestimated.

Last season, Portis averaged 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. He also placed third in the league’s Sixth Man of the Year race during the previous campaign, an award ultimately won by Minnesota Timberwolves’ Naz Reid.
Without a doubt, Portis is entering the new season ready to fight his way through the entire league. If things go well, the Bucks will get to adapt his perspective and tear opposing teams on their way to another championship.
