The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the best teams in the NBA if you look at the roster on paper.
They have one of the most dominant forwards in league history in Giannis Antetokounmpo. While Damian Lillard didn’t have the best debut season with the team, he’s still one of the best point guards in the Eastern Conference. Khris Middleton may not be as lethal of an offensive player as he once was in 2021, but he’s still a capable scorer who can make life tough for opposing defenders.
Moreover, they have a solid group of role players who can provide support to their Big 3. They also have a capable coach in Doc Rivers who can make the right adjustments.
However, many still dismiss the Bucks as a likely candidate to make the NBA Finals in 2025. Many still prefer the Boston Celtics or Philadelphia 76ers to come out of the Eastern Conference.
While everyone is dismissing the Bucks’ chances, many within the organization believes in the team they have built. One team executive recently made a bold statement that would have Bucks fans hyped and the rest of the league raising their eyebrows.
Milwaukee Bucks assistant GM claims the team’s Big 3 are all unstoppable if healthy
Milt Newton, the Bucks’ assistant general manager, made an appearance at the Hear District to talk about everything Milwaukee Bucks.
He touched upon the topic of the team’s Big 3 and claimed that almost nobody in the league can stop them if injuries aren’t a major concern.
Per Ahn Fire Digital’s Jesse Cinquini:
“Healthy Dame — we didn’t have Giannis — and a healthy Giannis and a healthy Khris in the playoffs, we haven’t seen that,” Newton said of a Bucks organization that was knocked out in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. “And I believe that when that happens, we’ll be an unbeatable team. We’ll be an unbeatable team.”
It’s true that it’s hard to imagine teams being able to stop the Bucks if all three are healthy. Giannis Antetokounmpo is unstoppable if he gets going to the rim. Damian Lillard is a lethal three-point shooter. Khris Middleton is also a three-way scorer who can shoot at will.
However, Newton’s caveat is a major clue on the biggest problem the Bucks will have. Middleton’s ankles are held together by God’s providence at this point. Giannis missed out on the entirety of the team’s postseason. Even Dame had to sit out a couple of games.
If the Bucks staff keeps their three stars healthy, the sky’s the limit for them. However, everyone knows that this is easier said than done.
