Milwaukee Bucks news: The Atlanta Hawks have been part of the playoffs for three straight years now. However, save for their trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, the Hawks have been eliminated from the postseason in the first round in two out of their three playoff trips.
This is perhaps why Trae Young is still feeling a bit salty about how the Bucks took them down in the ECF a couple of years ago en route to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. going on to win the championship.
Trae Young Discredits Milwaukee Bucks’ 2021 Title Run
In a recent interview, Young shared his brutally honest thoughts on the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals. The All-Star point guard suffered an injury in Game 3 and would go on to miss the rest of the series. Without their talisman on the court, the Hawks ended up losing in six games.
To this very day, Young is adamant that the Hawks would have won the title that season if only he didn’t get hurt:
“I ain’t going to lie, we definitely would have won our first ‘chip,” said Young on the From the Point podcast (h/t Madison Williams of SI). “I don’t even want to talk about it, because it’s so hard to get back to that moment. You just fight that feeling that you had your chance. … Getting hurt was not the best feeling because I definitely felt like we had a chance and we were on a run and we were feeling good.”

That’s a pretty big assumption, to say the least.
Not only did Young declare that the Hawks would have taken down the Bucks in the ECF, but he is also saying that through his leadership, Atlanta would have also defeated the Phoenix Suns in the Finals that year.
Trae Young is a great player. He’s definitely one of the top point guards in the game today. However, most fans would probably agree that this is a bit of an overestimation on his part.
