The Milwaukee Brewers historically do not make splashy moves when it comes to constructing their roster. Their division rival Chicago Cubs on the other hand does have a bit of a track record. Last Winter they signed free agents Cody Bellinger and Dansby Swanson while also trading for Jeimer Candelario mid-season. Now one baseball analyst has his sights set on the Cubs acquiring Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres.
Juan Soto, who is entering his final season of team control, is rumored to be a trade candidate this offseason. It is unclear how likely a trade is, but he would be an asset to several teams looking to add a star outfielder. According to Bruce Levine, Cubs baseball analyst for WSCR-AM 670 The Score, a one for one trade with Chicago taking on Juan Soto’s salary might be enough to get a deal done.
Milwaukee Brewers rival analyst from the Chicago Cubs has delusion trade proposal for Juan Soto of the San Diego Padres.
Bruce Levine pitched on 670 The Score that if the Cubs take on the full salary of Juan Soto then Christopher Morel might be enough in a one-for-one trade with the Padres. Per MLB Trade Rumors Juan Soto is projected to make $33 MM in arbitration in 2024. Christopher Morel was pitched for the Cubs likely because he is still in pre-arbitration and when on a hot streak he can be a game changer offensively.
It did not take long for this trade proposal to go viral on the internet and once it did fans across Major League Baseball had lots to say about it.
Even as a Cubs fan you can’t be this delusional to believe that Morel can get you Soto 1-for-1…. https://t.co/GDzzRdvOHQ

Context: Soto was traded for a MLB ready arm prospect, a young MLB SS, and many prospects including a top 10 in baseball in James Wood in 2022 . If you think a GM even entertains a 1 of 1 (even as a rental) you are smoking on that pipe.

If that’s all it takes is Moral, I’m driving him there. This is laughable! They want players to replace the farm they decimated!!

I think this is some California dreaming! But i also think ppl are under valuing Morel and his MLB career so far combined with his extremely friendly contract. Plus he has the potential of raising his already high ceiling. 1 top 30 prospect added in & 1 outside top 30 would do it

Why would the Padres want Morel if they already have quite a few 2B/SS players? If they were going to trade Soto, they want ready to go players where they lack and the Middle IFs isn’t the problem. P or OFs. Cassie or Armstrong, Horton, Little & Alcantara would make a huge mark.

Maybe I’m in the minority but why give up Morel instead of prospects. Morel has a big bat. This year needs big bats. If Soto signs an extension after the trade then it would make sense to me.

If the brewers take on the full salary of Juan Soto, then Sal Frelick might be enough in a 1-for-1 trade with the Padres, according to the ghost of Hank the Dog https://t.co/eAnpqO1rI9

If the Yankees take on the full salary of Juan Soto, then DJ LeMahieu might be enough in a 1-for-1 trade with the Yankees, according to the voices in my head this afternoon https://t.co/z6ITFx31qC
