According to Adam McCalvy, Rhys Hoskins wills wear number 12 with the Milwaukee Brewers. Jahmai Jones, who signed with the Brew Crew last year, previously wore number 12 and will shift to number 15 instead.

Hoskins decision to change numbers came largely due to the fact that no Brewers player has worn number 17 since 1992. Jim Gantner, who spent 17 season with Milwaukee, was the last player to wear that number. It is not officially retired by the franchise, but there seems to be a mutual understanding that no player should wear it.

Hoskins contract with the Brewers includes an opt out after the first year, but could span up to three hear. He will make $12 millions in 2024, $18 million in 2025, and $18 million in 2026. There is a player option after the first year, a mutual option for the third year, and a $4 million buyout in each option year.
