After the Milwaukee Brewers avoided the sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday, Milwaukee had an off-day on Monday. Milwaukee will be back in action on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road. The first pitch for this game will be at 5:40 p.m. CT at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
There is a chance that this game could be interrupted at some point due to rain. The projected starting pitchers for this matchup will be Tobias Myers (8-6 record, 3.05 ERA) for the Milwaukee Brewers and Bailer Flater (8-8 record, 4.15 ERA) for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Players To Watch For On the Milwaukee Brewers Against the Pittsburgh Pirates
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy has helped this team win the National League Central title for the second straight season. Milwaukee has an 89-67 record this season and the Brewers will most likely be the third seed in the National League Playoffs.
Left fielder Jackson Chourio is projected to bat leadoff for Milwaukee. He has played in 142 games so far this season. Chourio has a .273 batting average with 21 home runs and 78 RBIs, along with 21 stolen bases and seven caught stealing attempts. His on-base percentage is .328.
Shortstop Willy Adames is projected to bat fifth for the Brewers against the Pirates. He has played in 155 games this season. Adames has a .250 batting average with 32 home runs and 110 RBIs, along with 19 stolen bases and four caught stealing attempts.
Pitcher Tobias Myers has pitched in 25 games this season for the Milwaukee Brewers. He has pitched in 130.0 innings and has given up 119 hits and 50 runs. Myers has walked 36 batters and has struck out 120 batters.
Players To Watch For On the Pirates
This season, the Pirates record is 73-83 and in last place in the National League Central. It will be interesting to see if they were to fire manager Derek Shelton at the end of the season. Pittsburgh may also make changes in the front office as well once the season ends.
Left fielder Bryan Reynolds is projected to bat second for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has appeared in 150 games this season. Reynolds has a .276 batting average with 22 home runs and 85 RBIs, along with 10 stolen bases and two caught stealing attempts.
Center fielder Oneil Cruz is projected to bat third for Pittsburgh. He has appeared in 140 games this year. Cruz has a .268 batting average with 21 home runs and 76 RBIs, along with 22 stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. His on-base percentage is .331.
Pitcher Bailey Falter has pitched in 26 games this season for the Pirates. He has pitched in 134.1 innings and has given up 129 hits and 64 runs. Falter has also walked 41 batters and has struck out 92 batters.
Even though the Milwaukee Brewers won’t get a first-round bye most likely in the National League, they need to look good and play well against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Milwaukee can’t be limping into the playoffs and play poorly against Pittsburgh.
