The MLB offseason has not been very kind to the Milwaukee Brewers thus far. Right off the bat, news broke that Craig Counsell was leaving town. Not only was he leaving Milwaukee, but he ended up joining the Chicago Cubs to be the new manager after the team decided to fire David Ross.
Losing Counsell was a massive loss in and of itself. Counsell has been arguably baseball’s best manager over the last couple of years.
Despite the big loss, the Milwaukee Brewers still look the part of a potential contender in the National League next season. They’ve had a quiet offseason, but are still loaded with talent. Among the elite talent that they have is starting pitcher Corbin Burnes.

Burnes is more than deserving of this ranking. He has been a consistently good pitcher and the word “dominant” certainly fits.
During the 2023 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, Burnes ended up with a 10-8 record to go along with a 3.39 ERA and 200 strikeouts. Obviously, you can’t judge a pitcher by his record, but Burnes gave the Brewers more chances to win than they ended up taking advantage of when all was said and done.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, the Brewers are going to need a lot from Burnes. Overcoming the loss of Counsell won’t be easy, especially without any huge additions. Burnes will need to step up both on the diamond and as a leader in the clubhouse.
