The Milwaukee Brewers completed their largest come from behind victory in over 20 years on Sunday, September 22 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Trailing 8-0 in the third inning and 9-6 in the eighth inning the Brew Crew defined the odds and won by a score of 10-9. This victory preserved the fact that Milwaukee is the only Major League team this year to not lose four games in a row and post game manager Pat Murphy had lots to say about the game and what it means in relation to this year’s team.
Quote #1 from Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy’s post game press conference.
One thing that may have sparked the Brewers comeback victory was the loud boos coming from a crowd of 37,000 plus at American Family Field. Pat Murphy said that “it woke the guys up. Like, ‘We have a responsibility. We have taken our foot off the gas.’ … It’s a tribute to these guys that maybe they want to be the last man standing.”
Quote #2 from Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy’s post game press conference.
How rare was the Brewers comeback victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks? Post game Pat Murphy made sure to mention how few times something like this has happened in franchise history as he said, “that’s the fourth time in franchise history and first time in 21 seasons that we’ve (Brewers) had a come back from that deficit.”
For just the fourth time in franchise history, the @Brewers have come back to win from a deficit of 8 or more runs.

Quote #3 from Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy’s post game press conference.
One last quote that stood out was Pat Murphy’s comparison of the 2024 team to other post-season teams. Murphy said, “Come and see us. This team deserves you. It’s 2024. It’s different than the other teams that went to the playoffs (five) of the last (six) years.” He also discussed how this team wins by unconventional methods and wants to be the last one standing at the end of the baseball playoffs.
