Milwaukee Brewers general manager Matt Arnold met with the media on Thursday for his season-ending press conference. For the second straight season, the Brewers lost in the National League Wild Card Round. Milwaukee lost to the New York Mets in the playoffs this season and will hope to have better results next season.
However, the Brewers won two straight National League Central Division titles. Craig Counsell was the manager in 2023. He left for the Chicago Cubs last offseason and Pat Murphy took over as the manager in 2024 and did a wonderful job.
Milwaukee Brewers General Manager Matt Arnold Thinks Pat Murphy Should Be the National League Manager of the Year
Many people are wondering who will win the National League Manager of the Year award. One of the favorites to win the award this year is Brewers manager Pat Murphy. Another candidate to win the award is New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.
Murphy led the Brewers to a 93-69 record this season in a year that many people thought that Milwaukee was going to miss the postseason. Matt Arnold said to the media:
“It would be a crime for him not to win Manager of the Year.”
He has a very good point about this. Where would the Brewers have been this season without him? Yes, it was a very weak division this season, but many thought Milwaukee would only win 70-75 games at most this season with Pat Murphy as the manager.
Crucial Offseason
Murphy had key players on the roster this season like shortstop Willy Adames, first baseman Rhys Hoskins, and others, but those two players may not be brought next year by Arnold. Murphy may be working with a different roster next season.
The fans for the most part enjoyed his first season with the team. It will be interesting to see what year two brings with him.
