Former Milwaukee Brewers ninth overall pick Keston Hiura had been with the organization for seven years until recently signing with the Detroit Tigers. He had some great moments with the Brew Crew including a walk-off home run against Craig Kimbrel and the Chicago Cubs in 2019 and his last big league home run also being a walk-off home run but against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In Detroit he will have to play his way onto the 40-man roster but there is a clearer path to big league playing time. He formerly struggled at second base and is best suited as a designated hitter, but his defense at first base and left field has improved over the last year.
After signing with the Detroit Tigers Keston Hiura posted a heartfelt goodbye to the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
To think it’s been almost seven years since I became a Brewer makes me reflect on all the great memories and friendships that were made throughout the years. I would just like to thank the Brewers organization, my teammates, coaches, staff members, and especially the city of Milwaukee for this memorable journey.
To those who supported me through all the ups and downs, just know it never went unnoticed. I really wish our time together could’ve ended differently, but I want everyone to know that I always gave it my all and left everything out on the field. Milwaukee will always be a part of me forever!
