Opening day for the Milwaukee Brewers is scheduled for tomorrow, March 30. They will begin the year in Chicago for the second consecutive season with Corbin Burnes on the mound as they square off against their division rival, the Cubs. However, they will be short a few players as today, the team officially announced that four players will start the year on the injured list.
Opening Day Milwaukee Brewers Injury List
OF Tyrone Taylor
During the offseason, Tyrone Taylor aggravated his elbow during his workout program. Upon showing up to camp in February, his elbow flared up again. This left him out of all spring training games, and he eventually underwent a PRP injection into the elbow. He is reportedly progressing ahead of schedule, but for now, he will be on the 10-day injured list for opening day.
LHP Aaron Ashby
Last season Aaron Ashby missed a good amount of time with elbow and shoulder problems. To an extent, he played through some of it, but the fatigue and soreness lingered into the offseason for back at the Brewers fan event. In January, the team announced that he likely wouldn’t be ready. This came to fruition today as he was played on the 15-day injured list.
RHP Adrian Houser
Towards the end of spring training, groin tightness caused Adrian Houser to have an appearance pushed back. During his next outing, he left the game due to this same issue. He now will begin opening day on the 15-day injured list, and the Brewers expect him to miss three weeks or so of the regular season.
LHP Justin Wilson
The Brew Crew signed Justin Wilson back in February, knowing that he would not be available to pitch until July or so due to recovering from Tommy John surgery. It’s likely that he will be transferred to the 60-day list at some point.
It is worth noting that all of these injured list moves are retroactive from March 27.
Additionally, a while back, Brewers pitcher Jason Alexander was placed on the 60-day injured list after his shoulder flared up while ramping up during his throwing program. He is the fifth and final Milwaukee player starting the year on the injured list.
