For the second straight season the Milwaukee Brewers will open the season against the Chicago Cubs with Corbin Burnes on the mound. This will mark his second career opening day start in which both of these contests have been played in Chicago. The team made this announcement on Friday.
No surprise here: Corbin Burnes will start Opening Day for the Brewers for the second straight year. It’ll be Burnes vs. Marcus Stroman at Wrigley Field.

Last season Corbin Burnes squared off against Kyle Hendricks to begin the season. Burnes ended up pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs. Hendricks went 5.1 innings, struck out seven, and allowed just one earned run. The Cubs ended up winning the game 5-4.
The Milwaukee Brewers have announced that Corbin Burnes will be the team’s opening day starter in 2023.
This year, Burnes will be squaring off against Marcus Stroman. 2023 will be Stroman’s second season in Chicago and his first opening day start with the team. He pitched exceptionally well in the World Baseball Classic and it should be an electric show down between these two pitchers.
Opening day this year is scheduled for Thursday March 30.
