The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs will begin a pivotal three games series starting on Monday, August 28. Milwaukee currently holds a four game lead in the National League Central division and they are riding an eight game win streak. Chicago has won seven out of their last nine, has sole possession of a Wild Card spot, and they are keeping pace in the division. Prior to the two teams meeting star Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich acknowledged two important things.

Christian Yelich acknowledges two important things prior to the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs meeting for a pivotal three game series.
All year long the National League Central division has been tightly contested. Milwaukee’s four game lead is currently the largest gap between first and second place all season. Outside of the Brewers and Cubs the Cincinnati Reds have gone .500 over their last 10 games and now find themselves six games back in the division. According to Christian Yelich this division will come down to the Brewers and Cubs.
“I definitely think we’re (Brewers and Cubs) the two best teams in the division right now.”
One thing to expect over the next three games would be offense. Milwaukee is averaging 7.25 runs per game during their win streak and Chicago has put up double digit scores in their past two games. This series should also feature some large crowds at Wrigley Field with lots of energy, which is exactly what Christian Yelich is expecting.
“The energy is probably going to be pretty wild.”
Playing in playoff-like atmospheres on the road at Wrigley Field is something Christian Yelich is accustomed too and he has had a good amount of success against the Chicago Cubs throughout his career. Over 108 games he has belted 16 home runs, driven in 61 runs, and stolen 20 bases. Half of those home runs have come at Wrigley Field.
2023 has been a resurgent year for the Christian Yelich, who won the 2018 NL MVP award. His .445 slugging percentage, 123 OPS+, and 27 stolen bases are all season bests since 2019. If Milwaukee is going to outlast Chicago for the NL Central division they will need him to perform during these big series. The two teams still have six games remaining this year with half of them being played this week and the other half being the final three games of the regular season.
