For the first time in the history of their franchise, the Milwaukee Brewers will play a MLB season with the golden voice of Bob Uecker calling their games. Earlier this year, the Hall of Fame announcer and Milwaukee legend passed away at the age of 90. Indeed, summers in Wisconsin, long filled with the humorous stories and iconic play calls of a man whose greatness was incomparable, will never be the same.
But while Uecker is no longer with the baseball community that loved him so, his memory lives on. The Brewers will wear a commemorative plaid patch on the sleeves of their uniforms this season in his memory. During Spring Training, the grounds crew painted his recognizable autograph behind home plate of the American Family Fields of Phoenix.
And, for one day only, Brewers fans can get a custard flavor called “Mr. Baseball” at one of the city’s favorite local chains.
Kopps Frozen Custard Will Honor Milwaukee Brewers Legend Bob Uecker

Per a report by Milwaukee Magazine, the local frozen custard and burger chain Kopps will honor the legendary Brewers radio voice with a custard flavor called “Mr. Baseball.”
“Mr. Baseball” will be a caramel malt custard, topped with beer nuts, fudge-covered peanuts and “a splash of Miller Lite.” The flavor will only be available on March 31, the same day as the Brewers home opener against the Kansas City Royals.
As seen in the report referenced above, fans can only get this flavor on Monday, March 31, the same day that Milwaukee hosts the Royals for their home opener. Interestingly, the custard will include a “splash of Miller Lite” in honor of Uecker’s long-standing relationship with the local beer for which he was a spokesman.
Should fans want to try the “Mr. Baseball” custard, Kopps has three locations in the Milwaukee area:
- Greenfield: 7631 W. Layton Ave.
- Brookfield: 18880 W. Bluemound Rd.
- Glendale: 5373 N. Port Washington Rd.
Per Kopps’ flavor preview page, 20% of the proceeds from their “Mr. Baseball” sales will be donated to one of Uecker’s most cherished charity partners, the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The 20%, or .20, is a humorous nod to his .200 lifetime batting average as a player.
