Willy Adames’ last moments in a Milwaukee Brewers uniform came after a heart breaking loss in the Wild Card Series against the New York Mets that came at the hands of a Pete Alonso go-ahead three run home run. Post-game, it took all of two words out of Uecker’s mouth to Adames before he was emotional in the locker room.
Fast forward four months later, Adames has since signed with the San Francisco Giants, and Uecker has passed away. With Adames having left Milwaukee, he had not spoken on the matter, but when the Brewers and Giants played their first Cactus League game the topic of Uecker naturally came up.

In a video posted by MLB.com, that is from Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Adames talked about how Uecker’s passing was devastating, emotional, and that it will take time to fully realize that he is gone. Adames also spoke highly of the way Uecker treated people and credited that as to why he was a special human being.
“That tells you a lot about the person when nobody has something bad to say about a guy like him. That lets you know right there that he was just an angel on earth. He was something special.”
