The Milwaukee Brewers won the National League Central Division title in 2023 despite many predicting that they would, once again, fall short. However, they battled their way to 92 wins and their second division crown in three years. Following that season, though, the Brewers traded their ace, Corbin Burnes, to the Baltimore Orioles. Additionally, Craig Counsell skipped town and took the managerial job with the Chicago Cubs.
With a depleted starting rotation and an unproven Pat Murphy managing the team, very few picked Milwaukee to have the same level of success in 2024. Despite the doubters, though, the Brewers won the NL Central again, going 93-69 while Murphy won the NL Manager of the Year Award.
After having proven, once again, that they are not to be underestimated, Milwaukee is now being predicted to win their division again.
MLB Insider Predicts the Milwaukee Brewers Will Win the National League Central Division in 2025

This offseason, the Brewers saw shortstop Willy Adames leave in free agency after hitting 32 home runs and driving in 112 runs in 2024. They also traded two-time All-Star closer Devin Williams to the New York Yankees.
What is more, Milwaukee still does not know who their Opening Day shortstop will be, they did not add a notable bat in free agency to replace Adames’ run production, and they are banking on players who had disappointing seasons in 2024 to bounce back in 2025.
In other words, they did little more than stand pat (aside from adding a couple starting pitchers). But one MLB insider believes that they still are the team to beat in the NL Central.
Will Leitch of MLB.com recently predicted the Brewers will win their division for the third year in a row, writing:
“The Cubs are the popular pick here, and for understandable reasons: They did trade for Kyle Tucker, after all. But their moves after that — and their non-moves, most notably their inability to sign Bregman — didn’t exactly give them the look of a team that will do everything possible to take advantage of their one guaranteed season with an MVP-caliber player in their lineup.
“That’s enough for me to default to this: When in doubt, trust the Brewers. They’re essentially the Rays of this division, usually more than the sum of their parts, usually finding a way. And this division isn’t nearly as tough as the AL East often is. Plus, the Brewers have a young, emerging superstar in Jackson Chourio.”
As one can see, Chourio continues to draw offseason praise from baseball experts. Fortunately, Milwaukee had the foresight to lock him into an eight-year contract (10 years if one counts the two club options) last year even though he had not even played an MLB game yet.
But the point Leitch makes is one that Brewers fans have known since around 2017: no matter what Milwaukee does or, more notably, does not do, they are going to field a competitive team.
