Milwaukee Brewers impending free agent shortstop Willy Adames has said on numerous occasions that a goal of his is to play all 162 games in the regular season. A quad strain in 2021, ankle sprain in 2022, and a concussion in 2023 all ultimately prevented him from achieving this goal. This year he is 112 games into the 2024 season and he recently discussed how he is staying fresh during his quest to play all 162 games.
Willy Adames listed two things as keys to staying fresh during his quest to start all 162 games.
Following a big performance against the Atlanta Braves that consisted of two separate two run home runs Willy Adames was asked by Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as to his strategy for staying fresh this season. Adames credited working hard in the off-season as well as getting work in/treatment with the medical staff when things pop up.

Willy Adames currently has the second longest streak of consecutive games played as a shortstop in Milwaukee Brewers franchise history.
The Brewers franchise record for consecutive starts by a shortstop is 207 games. This was set by Robin Yount from 9/11/1975-5/12/1977. Willy Adames recently passed Pat Listash’s streak of 111 games to move into second place. Adames current streak of 116 games started on 9/28/2023 and is still active.
Willy Adames may not get an opportunity to break Robin Yount’s franchise record.
With 50 games remaining in the 2024 regular season and Willy Adames set to hit the free agent market this off-season there is a strong possibility that he is not wearing a Milwaukee Brewers uniform in 2025. Should he play all 162 games this year and sign elsewhere he won’t have the opportunity to break Robin Yount’s franchise record of 207 consecutive starts by a shortstop.
