Milkmen make a trade
In a swap of infielders, the Milwaukee Milkmen have added left handed hitter Drew Ward. They traded Correlle Prime to get the rights to Ward. Ward had an extensive minor career, making it all the way to AAA. He was very active in the Washington Nationals system. Ward is also coming off an all-star season.
Ward won the batting championship in 2020 and then had a “call-back” into the Tigers system. He played AA ball for Detroit in 2021.
Ward is 28. He bats left-handed but fields right handed. Ward is from Oklahoma City, OK. He is more of a corner infielder and will most likely be expected to play 3B and 1B for Milwaukee.

What the Milkmen traded away?
To get a player the caliber of Drew Ward, you do have to give something up. Correlle Prime had a strong season for the the home team and has been a very good corner infielder. He is a good contact hitter.

In 328 plate appearances last season, Prime hit .257 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI’s. He did not strike out a ton and was never caught stealing. Prime will be a player who is missed.

Last year was a good year for the Milkmen. However they were not 2022 playoff champions last season in the American Association of Professional Baseball. One would think that would be the goal for this year. Last year’s playoff champs were the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. The Milkmen did have a strong season and expect to be competitive again. The club prides itself on a great game day experience.
For the Milkmen, Bryan Torres led all hitters with a .374 batting average. The leading home run hitter for Milwaukee was Keon Barnumn.
