Marquette Golden Eagles’ February has not been that great and last week, they lost a game they should have won. For that, sliding in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll Ranking Week 16 is expected.

They did fell off in the AP ranking but they can have a sigh of relief because they are still inside the 25 best college basketball programs in the country.
The publication put the Golden Eagles at no. 21 for Week 16 of the 2024-2025 season, five spots lower from where they were the week before.
Marquette went 1-1 last week but 2-1 overall. Their only loss was against the Villanova Wildcats, a blow out loss at that.

The two wins did not matter that much as they were only against lower teams Seton Hall Pirates and DePaul Blue Demons.
Marquette improved in Week 15 by gaining two spots from no. 18. In Week 14 before that was much worse as they lost seven spots from 11th place due to their three straight losses.
Marquette Golden Eagles’ AP 25 streak remains alive
The Golden Eagles are hanging by a thread to keep their impressive AP Top 25 ranking alive.
Kansas City saw their own streak gets cut off to 80 weeks. This means there now just four remaining streaks ongoing.
Marquette’s has the fourth longest streak at 48, trailing Houston Cougar’s (102), Tennessee Volunteers (76), and Purdue Boilermakers (55).

They have a chance to escape getting booted out from the list this week when they take on Big East third-worst team Providence Friars on Tuesday.
They will then pay Georgetown Hoyas a visit on Saturday.
They are expected to win both assignments as they search for consistency as the March Madness approaches.
