Croatian hockey sensation Bruno Idzan has confirmed that he will play for the Wisconsin Badgers in the NCAA.
The 19-year-old burst onto the scene last November as part of the Lincoln Stars in US Hockey League. He has played only 21 games so far but is already eighth in the team in terms of points with 29.
How did he arrive to the decision of joining the Badgers? Idzan said it is the program’s rich history and their great players in the current line-up.
“I started talking to them after about 10 games (with Lincoln) and they showed great interest in me,” Idzan said as quoted by Lincoln Stars website.
“I went there for a visit and really liked it. They showed a lot of interest in me and the people and facilities there are amazing. The opportunity to go to the next level with their history was a big draw.”
Idzan will become the first ever Croatian to play in the NCAA.
His Lincoln coach Rocky Russo was just as happy as the young star regarding the Badgers link up.
“Being able to play in the Big 10 against some of the best competition in the country is a no-brainer,” Russo said.
“I think for him, his choice was a great one and we’re excited fro the Wisconsin staff to get a great player and an ever better person.”

The Badgers definitely need a reinforcement like Idzan in the next season.
Fans of the team, which dropped their last regular season game heading into the playoffs, hail the commitment from the young star.
