The Marquette Golden Eagles are 17-3 overall this season in college basketball and 7-1 in Big East Conference play. The Golden Eagles took care of the Seton Hall Pirates and won by a final score of 76-59.
In the game, Kam Jones scored 19 points, grabbed three rebounds, and recorded four assists. Jones has been one of the best players on Marquette’s roster this season. There is a chance he is one of the players on this roster who will be drafted in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Bleacher Report NBA Mock Draft Has the Boston Celtics Selecting Marquette Golden Eagles Guard Kam Jones In Round One
In an NBA Mock Draft created by Jonathan Wasserman on Bleacher Report, he has the Boston Celtics drafting 28th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. With that selection, Boston would take Marquette Golden Eagles guard Kam Jones.
Jones is 6’5″ and weighs 200 lbs. This season with Marquette, he is averaging 19.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 6.5 APG, and is also shooting 49.7% from the field. Wasserman said:
“A proven shotmaker and consistently one of the more efficient rim-finishing guards in college hoops, Kam Jones has now taken off this year as a playmaker (6.4 assists).
Being 23 years old by draft night historically impacts draft stock, but it’s getting tough to poke holes in a 6’5″ combo with 273 career threes, a functional floater game, three consecutive seasons above 65.0 percent around the basket and gradually improving playmaking skills.”
Kam Jones’s NBA comparison is Malik Monk. Jones going near the end of the first round would be interesting, especially to a team like the Boston Celtics. There is still plenty of time left in the college basketball season for him to be a mid-first-round pick.
Only Senior On Team Who Will Be Drafted
Last year, Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro were drafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. This year, Kam Jones will be the only player on Marquette’s roster who will probably be drafted in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Stevie Mitchel and David Joplin are also seniors on the Marquette roster, but they probably won’t be drafted. The only other player on the roster who could be drafted is Chase Ross, but the odds are that Ross would return for his senior season next year. Losing Kam Jones after this season to the NBA will be tough for head coach Shaka Smart.
