Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert Receives Devastating Injury News Prior To Green Bay Packers Matchup (Report)

The Los Angeles Chargers and Green Bay Packers are both looking for a win in the worst way in Week 11.  The Packers (3-6) are looking for as many positives to take away from the 2023 season before the head into 2024 (baring an improbable playoff run).  The Chargers (4-5) are still right in the mix of things for an AFC wildcard spot.  That being said, the Chargers could be very short handed this week when they travel to Lambeau Field.

The Los Angeles Chargers Had Multiple Star Players Unable To Practice Prior To Their Matchup With The Green Bay Packers

According to Daniel Popper of The Athletic

DL Sebastian Joseph-Day, WR Keenan Allen, TE Gerald Everett, edge rusher Khalil Mack and TE Donald Parham not practicing today.

Although the Chargers still have a few days before flying to Green Bay, this is not a good start to the week. There should be a fair amount of concern for Chargers fans about the trio of Keenan Allen, Gerald Everett, and Donald Parham not practicing.

Assuming that Justin Herbert will be without those three players in Week 11, he will be without his WR1, WR2, WR3, TE1, TE2 and starting center. Without the glue that holds the offensive line together at center, he will literally be without five of his six most important offensive weapons.

How Does This Impact The Packers Defense?

Surprisingly, the Packers passing defense ranks seventh in the league in yards allowed per game.  However, the Packers rush defense currently ranks 28th in the NFL in yards allowed per game.  If the Chargers feel their passing attack is limited, they may focus on the run game.  Opponents have had success running the ball all season long against this Packers defense.

I would expect a heavy rushing attack from the Chargers if they don’t feel confident in their passing attack, which honestly, could be worst case scenario for the Packers.  A successful rushing attack coupled with Justin Herbert under center could spell trouble for the Packers defense if the Chargers threw in a few play action passes.  It will be vital for the Packers to play sound defense all afternoon long.

Amidst a challenging Week 11, the Los Angeles Chargers face significant hurdles with key players’ injuries.
