Khris Middleton’s epic milestone from Monday night was extra special. Not only did he enter the Top 5 of the Milwaukee Bucks’ all-time scoring list, but the fact that he scored his history-making deuce over former teammate Jevon Carter was the icing on top of the cake.
As it turns out, the fact that Middleton surpassed Bucks icon Michael Redd for the No. 5 spot made the moment even more memorable.
Khris Middleton’s Message for Milwaukee Bucks Icon Michael Redd
Michael Redd is one of the most prominent names in Bucks franchise history. The fact that the former All-Star shooting guard has 11,554 points to his name is a clear testament to this fact.
Until Monday night, Redd had the honor of being one of the Top 5 scorers in franchise history. The 44-year-old will now need to settle for sixth now that Middleton has surpassed him for No. 5 on the all-time scoring list.
Following his historic milestone, Middleton had to send a special shoutout to Redd. According to the three-time All-Star, Redd is someone who he considers to be a mentor:
“Salute to Michael Redd,” Middleton said (h/t ESPN). “He’s been a mentor of mine since I came to Milwaukee. I took over his number (No. 22) a little bit. He’s been a great person to reach out to from time to time and talk to.”
As Middleton said, he also took over Redd’s No. 22 jersey. It would not be surprising if Khris even reached out to Redd to ask permission beforehand.
In case you were wondering, Middleton now has 11,559 points to his name. He currently sits behind a few all-time greats on the scoring list: Sidney Moncrief (fourth, 11,594), Glenn Robinson (third, 12,010), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (second, 14,211).
Middleton has a good shot at claiming the No. 2 spot before he calls it a career. Giannis Antetokounmpo is No. 1 with 16,575 points, though, so if ever, the best Middleton could hope for would be second.
