After spending his first five seasons in the NFL with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Josh Jacobs decided to take his talents to the Green Bay Packers. He turned heads when he inked a four-year contract with the NFC North division team worth $48 million in March 2024.
Jacobs proved to be a great pickup in the NFL free agency by the Packers, who immediately felt his impact on offense. He rushed for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on 301 carries in his first season with the Packers. In addition, Jacobs had 342 receiving yards while recording his first (and so far, only) career TD reception.

Jacobs had the goal of winning when he chose the Packers as well as coming up with big numbers, a point he recently reiterated.
“I pretty much did,” Jacobs said when asked if he expected such production when he signed with Green Bay. “There’s a big reason why I wanted to come here. Obviously, I wanted to win games, but also because I felt like I could see myself doing well over here.”
Green Bay provided Jacobs with a better football environment than what he had during his final season with the Raiders. In 2023, he played in only 13 games and rushed for a career-low 805 yards with six touchdowns on 233 carries. His 3.5 yards per carry average that season remains his fewest in a season during his career, thus far.
Packers fans can expect more from Jacobs, now that he’s got a full year of experience with Green Bay.
