The Green Bay Packers will be going into the 2023 off-season with more questions than answers. Even with the departure of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, many fans had high expectations for the Packers’ offense. After starting the season 4-7, those expectations have been dashed. We are now looking at the 2023 off-season as well as the long-term plans for this team. Some recent comments by Jordan Love may force the Packers to look into a major trade.
Jordan Love’s Comments Regarding His Future In Green Bay
ESPN reporter Rob Demovsky spoke with the QB this week. He asked Jordan Love about his Packers future and if he might never play as the starter. Love answered honestly:
“It’s a possibility,” he said.
Demovsky asked Love if he was open to asking for a trade. Love gave a vague response:
“We’ll see,” he said again. “I would obviously be in the fourth year of my contract, and it would be the team’s possibility of picking up my fifth year. It’s really on them to see what kind of moves they want to make, what they want to do with the future.
These comments may come as a shock to some, but to Jordan Love, it might be long overdue. Love was drafted in the first round of the 2020 draft, and has been on standby ever since. After Aaron Rodgers signed his massive three-year extension in March, Love may want his opportunity. However, should Green Bay let him walk? Or Hand him the keys?
Should Green Bay Give The Reigns To Jordan Love?
After being a backup for nearly three full seasons now, Jordan Love has yet to show the league what he can do. Jordan Love’s career stats aren’t impressive (59.2 completion percentage, 484 passing yards, two touchdowns, three interceptions) but aren’t indicative at all of what he could be in this league. Jordan Love was widely considered an early first-round draft pick after the 2018 season at Utah State. However, after struggling in 2019 many wondered if he was a first-round talent. The Packers took a chance on him and three years later may be forced to hand the keys over to him.
If Jordan Love wants to be traded because he isn’t getting a chance in this league, should Green Bay give him that chance? That would mean moving on from Aaron Rodgers one way or another. If Rodgers isn’t ready to retire, a trade would be likely. Something like this would have massive ramifications on the franchise. Moving on from possibly the best player to ever don a Packers uniform isn’t an easy decision. However, many think it is the right time to do so. After struggling mightily in 2022 many fans are ready for the post Aaron Rodgers era.

Love hasn’t given us any reason to think he is going to be a good replacement for Rodgers. I say we let him go and try and trade up or draft someone better. He was a waste of a 1st round pick.
He cost more than a first rounder… thanks to our GM that could have picked him in the second round
I for one think Rodgers is not done. Yea it’s been a rough year, but nobody pinpoints out all the great had a rough year. Look at Brady. He has he had a few. Also, Rodgers he as never been shut out. Just saying. If Rodgers stays I guarantee next year we I’ll almost be a run if not a run. Maybe not all the way but he will get close. One bad year and you ready to move on, this is like 15 percent of the Packers fans saying this and 5 percent of them are haters
Sorry but one of the biggest mistakes Green Bay made…may be too early to tell but I do not think Love will ever be a great QB
Give him a shot and get nice trade picks for Rodgers.
He said nothing wrong. He told the facts, it’s the coaches who will decide. It was no threat of leaving or wanting to be traded.
