Jordan Love on Packers’ Locker Room: “No One Has Flinched”

One of the coolest parts about being a fan of the Green Bay Packers is how accessible the players are in the community. One of the chances that fans get to interact with some players is Clubhouse Live, a weekly show hosted by Packers players at the Clubhouse Bar and Grill inside the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley hotel. Up until recently, Amari Rodgers was one of the players who hosted the show. However, since he was released, the show needed a new host. Backup quarterback, and genuinely good human being, Jordan Love accepted the invitation to be a guest on this week’s show.

Highlights of the Jordan Love Interview

Jordan Love does not do very many interviews. Because of this, it was very interesting to hear his opinions on different stories surrounding the team. One of the questions asked of him was about Aaron Rodgers’ comments regarding his confidence the Packers could go 6-0 over their remaining games.

“Yeah, I mean, that’s the thing. Our record is not what we want it to be, you know, 4-7, but no one in that locker room has flinched. We are sticking together, just like we did last year.

On what the Packers need to do in order to defeat the Eagles:

“We got to run the ball. You know, they’re a good defense, but we got to run the ball well.”

Love was then asked a few questions about how hard it is for rookie players to make an impact right away. Rookie wide receiver Christian Watson was brought up, and Love was asked how he [Watson] and the rookies have progressed this season.

“No one really understands how hard it is for a rookie to come in right away. There’s a new playbook, a very large playbook, that you have to learn. And these guys, especially Christian, are starting to pick it up. You know, Aaron’s been doing this a long time, and it takes time to get on the same page as him. But the young guys are starting to do that and it’s, uh yeah, it’s pretty exciting.”

On what Love feels be is better at now than when he was a rookie:

“My understanding of the offense right now. Understanding the playbook, understanding where I’m going with the ball, being able to see pre-snap what the defense is doing.”

Back to playbook, Love was asked just how hard it is to learn all the plays in a new offense:

“It’s tough. You start by learning the formations and what I call the base plays. We have about seven installs we put in during camp, and there are about 20 pass plays in each install. It’s pretty intense.”

How many offensive plays are there in a Matt LaFleur offense?

“I couldn’t put a number on that. Over a hundred for sure. Pass concepts, we have over 50.”
