The Milwaukee Bucks have won four of their last five games, pushing their record to 21-17. Entering Wednesday’s game against the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee is the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference standings and is receiving yet another MVP-caliber season from superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, with the Bucks still trying to catch their footing under head coach Doc Rivers, reports have surfaced of the team potentially shuffling their roster while adding an elite offensive playmaker.
On Wednesday, the Milwaukee Bucks again became linked with disgruntled Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler as a potential trade destination. Adding Butler would require Milwaukee to jump through numerous financial hurdles and could come at the loss of guard Damian Lillard, leaving many fans split on a potential blockbuster trade.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans Divided on Jimmy Butler Addition
According to Evan Sidery of Forbes:
The Bucks are a sleeper team to watch in pursuit of Jimmy Butler, per @sam_amick (https://nytimes.com/athletic/6063464/2025/01/15/bulls-zach-lavine-nikola-vucevic-trade/…).
Butler’s camp, contrary to other reports, hasn’t told Milwaukee he would not be interested in playing there.
With Miami Heat megastar Jimmy Butler housing a no-trade clause, the disgruntled two-way playmaker is in the driving seat regarding his next destination. Among those teams are the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks. Butler has a player option north of $50 million next season. Meanwhile, despite the Bucks’ recent stretch of success, they are 0-8 against the top three teams in the Eastern Conference.
Additionally, to add Butler, Milwaukee would likely need to part ways with Pat Connaughton’s contract and one of Kris Middleton and Bobby Portis in a salary matching package. They would also need to reach Miami’s asking price. With Butler having off-the-court issues this season, many Milwaukee Bucks fans are against the move for the superstar, while others believe it is necessary to compete in the East.
Feels increasingly likely that Jimmy Butler could be Dame 2.0 for the Bucks.
Makes it clear he wants to go one place, can’t get there, expands his options to get away from his current situation.
We know how aggressive Jon Horst is.

Jimmy Butler IS EXACTLY the player to bring that energy every night. It could be Dame, Butler, Giannis vs everybody.

Bucks being reported as a dark horse for Jimmy Butler. I think that’d take them over the top as a solid contender, spacing doesn’t matter as much since they have Brook Lopez a stretch 5

Also the bucks shouldn't want jimmy butler. If anything they should be trying to get younger and more athletic at the big and wing spots and Jimmy is old. Also there isn't enough ball to go around for 3 ball dominate players on one team.

I’ve heard multiple accounts say he doesn’t want to play here. Big risk IMO.

Jimmy Butler will be a Milwaukee Buck soon. Thank you Khris, Pat, and Bobby, you will all be missed. Unfortunately this is a move that has to be made. The Bucks just need to improve the roster.

Trading for Jimmy Butler is trading for Jimmy Butler (hypothetically that it'd happen), but a secondary benefit to the Bucks would be a quick reset to their non-Brook, non-Giannis alignment in the Frontcourt's and that's equally as intriguing in the short-term/long-term.

I really hope the Bucks aren't dumb enough to trade for washed up Jimmy Butler.
How does the front office not recognize that age is the biggest issue with the roster?

Bucks Best Red Hot Sacramento Kings
On the first night of back-to-back home games, the Milwaukee Bucks took down the Sacramento Kings despite the Western Conference foe riding an impressive seven-game winning streak. Giannis Antetokounmpo notched his 50th career triple-double in the victory, posting 33 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. Milwaukee dominated in the first quarter, outscoring the Kings 47-26.
The Bucks shot 49% from the field and 37% from deep as a team. Guard Damian Lillard and center Brook Lopez combined for 45 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. They will face the shorthanded Orlando Magic on Wednesday. They played Orlando late last week, winning 109-106.
