New York Giants rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has had an up-and-down rookie season, but this is a player that the Green Bay Packers defense needs to pay attention to on Monday night. Hyatt is one of the fastest wide receivers and had his first career 100-yard receiving game against the New England Patriots on 11/26.
He caught five passes for 109 yards receiving and averaged 21.8 yards per reception in that contest. On the season for the New York Giants, Hyatt has caught 17 passes for 330 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 19.4 yards per reception.
He is a rookie out of Tennessee that was a third-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Jalin Hyatt is becoming more of a threat for the Giants offense with Tommy DeVito as the starting quarterback. Before the Week 12 matchup with New England, Hyatt went to Brian Daboll’s office and asked how he can be better and this is something that the Athletic’s Dan Duggan mentioned.
Hyatt told Duggan of the Athletic:
“It was stuff where I was thinking it was me. Coming from Tennessee, my last year I was almost getting the ball every play. I understand this is the NFL and obviously things are completely different up here. That’s something I had to adjust to. It was kind of hard for me.”
However, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll also talked to Dan Duggan about Jalin Hyatt and said about him:
“I’ve been impressed with how he’s handled that because it’s not always easy to handle when you’re a receiver. I just said, ‘Stay with it. I have so much confidence in you. You’ve done everything we’ve asked you to do. I love you. When the ball comes your way, you go ahead and make that play, which I know you can do.”
Green Bay Packers Young Cornerbacks Will Need to Keep an Eye on Jalin Hyatt
Jaire Alexander is going to miss another game for the Packers on Monday night against the New York Giants. With that in mind, Green Bay’s cornerbacks will be Kelsean Nixon, Corey Ballentine, and Carrington Valentine. Ballentine and Valentine have played well for the Green Bay Packers during the three-game winning streak.
In order for them to keep the winning streak at four, they are going to have to limit the big plays from New York Giants rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who can easily get behind a defense. The Packers defense goes up against young speedy wide receivers in practice all the time.
Hyatt is their home run hitter and the Giants have one of the worst offenses in the NFL. Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry can’t afford to have this defense have a letdown against New York. As long as the Packers limit the big plays from Hyatt who is looking for a second consecutive 100-yard receiving game, they will be just fine.
