On Tuesday, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst didn’t make many moves at the NFL Trade Deadline. The only move he decided to make was to trade outside linebacker Preston Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a seventh-round pick.
A lot of Packers fans thought that Gutekunst should have made more trades on Tuesday, but that wasn’t the case. He also met with the media on Tuesday after the lone trade.
Green Bay Packers Fans Are Upset With General Manager Brian Gutekunst After the NFL Trade Deadline
Packers fans are not happy with Gutekunst with the way he handled the trade deadline on Tuesday. Here is what some Green Bay fans had to say about the lone move he made:
learned that he is afraid to make a bold move and try to improve the roster

As a fan, I was hoping to see an addition that could help. I was thinking a CB or a DL addition. Lots of “good teams” improved today

Cannot believe local media is ripping Gutey’s first round picks! Defense is still a work in progress! These people have no clue!! Now Clark and Gary are “C” players!! So clueless!

Last year, there were some Packers fans who wanted general manager Brian Gutekunst fired after the Packers started the season 3-6. This season, Green Bay is 6-3 during the bye week.
He Was Aggressive During the Offseason
Gutekunst was criticized for trading away Preston Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He told the Mike Spofford, the packers.com editor:
“For him to be here still 5½ years later and produce like he’s produced, he’s done a lot of good things for us. I’m really appreciative. He played a lot of good football for us and won a lot of games. I wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”
During the offseason, he signed Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney on the free-agent market. That showed Gutekunst being aggressive. In years past, there would have been times they wouldn’t have signed marquee-free agents like that.
McKinney has helped out the Packers’ defense this season and Josh Jacobs has been the primary back for the Packers. When they signed Jacobs, they decided to release Aaron Jones on the same day. Also, they are in a better spot after the trade deadline this year than where they were last season.
