Milwaukee Brewers: Jackson Chourio Predicted to Lead Team in Surprising Category in 2025

Over the last several seasons, former shortstop Willy Adames was the most prolific home run hitter on the Milwaukee Brewers. While Rowdy Tellez did have a season in which he hit 35 home runs, it was Adames who hit the most home runs from year to year on a consistent basis.

But now he is gone, having signed a seven-year $182 million contract with the San Francisco Giants following a season in which he hit .251/.331/.462 with 32 home runs, 112 RBI, and 21 stolen bases. Adames’ 2024 season with the Brewers saw him set single-season franchise records for home runs and RBI by a shortstop.

Now that he is no longer on the team, one wonders how Milwaukee will replace his power and run production, especially since the team did not add any prolific hitters in free agency.

MLB Analyst Predicts Jackson Chourio Will Lead the Milwaukee Brewers in Home Runs

Prior to Adames’ arrival in Milwaukee, the most prolific, well-known power hitter on the Brewers roster was Christian Yelich, who hit 80 home runs combined in 2018 and 2019. After a few down seasons following his fractured knee cap, the three-time All-Star seemed to have returned to form in 2024 by hitting .315/.406/.504 with 11 home runs, 42 RBI, and 21 stolen bases in 75 games.

But Yelich’s power numbers, at least those that saw him average 40 home runs over two years, did not return. That being the case, Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report believes it will be Jackson Chourio who leads the Brewers in home runs in 2025:

“Chourio hit .310/.363/.552 with 17 doubles, 12 home runs and 44 RBI in 63 games after the All-Star break, capping off his stellar rookie campaign with a two-homer performance in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Mets. He was the youngest player to appear in a MLB game last year, making it easy to dream on his long-term upside.”

Overall, Chourio hit .275/.327/.464 with 21 home runs, 79 RBI, and 22 stolen bases. He became the youngest player in MLB history to post a 20-20 season, and recently hinted that he has his sights set on a 30-30 campaign this year.

Other Candidates Who Could Lead the Milwaukee Brewers in Home Runs

For decades, the Brewers were built their batting lineups with hitters who could mash a lot of home runs, but also hit for low averages and struck out. The late 1990’s-early 2000’s lineups that feature Jeromy Burnitz, Richie Sexson, and Geoff Jenkins comes to mind, as does more recent lineups that featured Yelich, Travis Shaw, and Mike Moustakas.

Today’s Brewers team, though, does not feature many power hitters. That being the case, other candidates that could end up being the team leaders in home runs are first baseman Rhys Hoskins and catcher William Contreras. Hoskins hit 26 home runs last year and Contreras had 23.

Hoskins’ career-high is 34, which he hit in 2018. Contreras’ 23 last year were his career-high.
