It is no secret that the Green Bay Packers are going to need to address their wide receiver position this offseason. Christian Watson, who had a career-high 620 receiving yards last year, is going to be out for most of the 2025 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears. Additionally, Green Bay’s other top-three wide receivers, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks, all had drop percentages between 10 and 12%.
These developments have led many to come to the conclusion that the Packers will try to acquire a bonified number one wide receiver during the offseason. Current stars Josh Jacobs and Jordan Love have each talked at different points about the possibility of adding Davante Adams, one of the best wide receivers in franchise history, should he be released by the New York Jets.
But Adams, currently, is still under contract with New York, and if he were to be released would have many suitors, some of whom may be willing to pay him more than Green Bay. That being said, there will be other wide receivers on the free agent market, one of whom the Packers are very familiar with.
The Green Bay Packers Were Named a “Perfect Fit” for Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs

One of these wide receivers is soon-to-be former Houston Texans star Stefon Diggs. After playing in just eight games in 2024 due to a torn ACL of his own, the four-time Pro Bowler is set to hit free agency looking for an opportunity to prove that he can still play at a high level.
Jacob Camenker of CBS Sports believes that the Packers would be the perfect team for Diggs:
“Diggs might not be a true No. 1 receiver anymore, but the Packers should still be intrigued by his availability. His inside/outside versatility would allow the team to change his and Jayden Reed’s alignment to create advantageous matchups while taking some pressure off the oft-injured Christian Watson to play every snap. Diggs is coming off a torn ACL, so the Packers may be able to land him on a one-year deal.”
In his eight games played in 2024, Diggs caught 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns.
In the four years prior, though, he made four consecutive Pro Bowls with the Buffalo Bills, going over 1,000 yards in each season, including 2020 when he led the league in receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535).
Of course, the Packers are already familiar with Diggs due to the five seasons he spent with the Minnesota Vikings at the beginning of his career.
Entering his age 32 season, there is no guarantee that he will be able to recapture his Pro Bowl form coming off of such a profound injury.
That being said, Camenker makes a good point: the Packers may not need him to be a number one wide receiver. Instead, he can provide more flexibility with how Green Bay uses Reed and other receivers. In this sense, he does seem like a good fit for the Packers.
However, whether or not Green Bay wants to commit financial resources to a 32-year-old wide receiver coming off of a torn ACL remains to be seen, and frankly does not seem likely.
