The Green Bay Packers have a young, talented, and quite frankly underpaid wide receiving group. That’s not to say that the Packers have refused to pay them, they’re just all still on their rookie contracts. However, early returns suggest this could be one of the best units in the league.
Romeo Doubs is one of the pillars of that group, and after practice today some pretty serious reports started surfacing.
The Green Bay Packers Have Something Serious Going On With Romeo Doubs
Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur on Romeo Doubs’ spring:
“He’s very deliberate about the work he puts in, and I think it’s showed… He’s had a lot of great moments. Matter of fact, I can’t think of a bad day that he’s had out there. He is definitely improving.”

However, it didn’t stop there:
Zachary Jacobson of Packers Report further elaborated on comment regarding Doubs:
“I think Rome’s had an outstanding spring, I really do,” said head coach Matt LaFleur on Wednesday. “It’s evident by the work he puts in on a daily basis. He’s in there in the morning catching off the JUGS, he’s one of the last guys to leave the building. He’s very deliberate about the work he puts in and it’s shown.”
“We challenged him on a couple things that we thought he could really do a better job with and just continuing to stress the importance of opening up his stride,” said LaFleur, “he’s embraced that and I think you’ve seen that. He’s had a lot of great moments. As a matter of fact, I can’t think of a bad day he’s had out there. He’s definitely improving.”
“He had some bumps throughout the course of last year and he figured it out,” Doubs said, “I don’t want to speak for him, but he knows better than I do that the only goal is to get better throughout the days, not the weeks.”
Could Doubs Turn Into A “WR1” For The Packers?
During the two postseason games, Doubs caught 10 passes, gained 234 yards, and scored a touchdown, including 151 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round. Every player on every roster across the league has the opportunity to improve. Doubs is no different, even after a stellar 2023 season.
There is trust between Doubs and Jordan Love. If that relationship continues to grow and Doubs continues to improve, the Packers could see Doubs cement himself as Love’s top choice.
Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and Jayden Reed as the other options could make this the best four-headed wide receiving group in the NFL.
