The Green Bay Packers may lose a star to one of their close rivals pretty soon. According to journalist Peter Panacy, Green Bay’s starting center Josh Myers, who is a free agent right now, will be a superb addition to the San Francisco 49ers. If Myers does indeed depart from the Packers, Green Bay will need to revamp their offense in other ways, and soon.
Currently, the Green Bay Packers are ranked third in the NFC North after winning nine games and losing three so far in the season. Lastly, the Packers took on the Miami Dolphins and won the game with a final score of 30-17 after QB Jordan Love managed a pair of TDs. Josh Jacobs led the rushing with a single score, while Tucker Kraft completed six receptions on defense.
Josh Myers, who played college football for Ohio State before being drafted into the NFL, is in his fourth year with the Green Bay Packers. All in all, Myers has managed to complete 51 career games, and has started 11 games for the Packers this season. Green Bay seems to have got wind of Myers’ departure from the team, since the team has already invested in Jacob Monk, who last played for Duke University.
With the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers being close rivals in the NFL, Myers, if drafted into the 49ers, will hurt the Wisconsin team quite a bit. Still, the Packers are confident of moving ahead this season, with the team riding a juicy three-game winning streak.
Green Bay Packers Lose To The Detroit Lions
It was not a good Thursday night for the Green Bay Packers after losing a heart-breaker to the Detroit Lions with a walk-off victory following a Jake Bates kick, 34-31, at the Ford Field in Detroit.
Jared Goff has shown his application for this season’s MVP after throwing three touchdown passes, two of which were tosses to wide receiver Tim Patrick.
Dan Campbell made a call for a fourth-down conversion with 17 seconds left in the game which burned all the time that the Green Bay Packers could make a late run.
“There’s risk with it but I felt with our guys, it wouldn’t be as big of a risk as it may appear to be,” said Campbell after the game when asked the risk-reward ratio to make a bold call.
The Detroit Lions are now at 12-1 and will have a chance to secure their best record in franchise history with a win over Chicago Bears on Week 15.
On the other side of the fence, the Green Bay Packers fell to 9-4 and will look bounce back when the face the Seattle Seahawks next.
