The Green Bay Packers offense is full of notable names like Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs. All of these players should be names that are called upon to make big plays this season. However, the team may have a secret weapon on offense in second-year wide receiver Samori Toure.
Green Bay Packers Samori Toure: A Secret Weapon?
Toure was a seventh-round pick last season and played sparingly. He did have a big touchdown against the Buffalo Bills but outside of that was relatively quiet. Toure has been working hard this offseason to make sure he can contribute this year.
“I feel like I’ve made a big jump,” Toure told the Packers’ website . “That’s something that’s been consistent with me, even throughout college. I’ve been able to make a lot of progress throughout each year. It’s just a matter of being comfortable with the system, the playbook, the speed of play and all that.”
Toure has added to his frame making him bigger in the offseason. He also got to develop a rapport with Jordan Love last season because they both were getting more second-team reps which could translate well in 2023.
Coaches Love Him
I have never seen a seventh-round player get talked about more by coaches than Toure. Head coach Matt LaFleur raved about the receiver out of Nebraska.
‘He’s a guy that we definitely have high hopes for,” LaFleur said. “He has the tools necessary that you look for in terms of being able to separate. He has them in his body. He possesses those. It’s just continuing to get more and more reps.”
If Watson, Doubs, and Samori Toure are all hits, the Green Bay Packers could have a devastating receiving room in a couple of years. 2023 is full of intrigue for this team and Toure is just another fun piece to watch for.
