The Green Bay Packers have a great recent history of finding solid wide receivers in the second round of the NFL Draft. Popular players like Greg Jennings (well, he used to be popular among fans), Jordy Nelson, and Davante Adams were all selected in the second round of their respective drafts. As great and as popular as they were during their times with the Packers, it could be argued that none were as popular or universally beloved by the fanbase as 2011 second round pick Randall Cobb.
In 10 seasons with the Packers (combined in two different stints), Cobb amassed 532 receptions for 6,316 yards and 47 touchdowns. His best season was in 2014 when he had 91 receptions for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was named to his only career Pro Bowl after that season.
News Broke on Thursday that Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Randall Cobb Had Retired from the NFL
Earlier on Thursday, a report was released stating that Cobb had retired from the NFL and accepted a position on the SEC Network. The former Packers wide receiver, of course, played his college ball at the University of Kentucky, which is in the SEC. During his time at Kentucky, Cobb amassed 2,974 yards from scrimmage and 35 all-purpose touchdowns.

Including his years with the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and New York Jets, Cobb has 630 career receptions for 7,624 yards and 54 touchdowns.
There was just one problem with the report. While he is joining the SEC Network, Cobb has not field retirement papers with the NFL.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Randall Cobb Is Not Retiring (Yet)
A little while after news broke that Cobb had “retired,” the former Pro Bowler himself took to social media to set the record straight:
Not officially retired but I’m excited for this new opportunity! Catch me and @AlyssaLang on Out of Pocket Wednesdays on the SEC Network! https://t.co/FbsIKCQK3G

Playing with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets last season, Cobb had just five receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown. Now a free agent, it appears that he has not garnered any interest on the open market.
That being said, teams frequently need veteran depth after the season starts or as they finalize their playoff rosters. It is possible that a contending team could bring Cobb aboard as an extra receiver later in the year.
